Cookies!

Well now that Scott is 8 it is time for him to learn how to serve his parents. I have always like to buy the pre cut cookies to have on hand for those occasional cravings, so it is now Scott's job to make our cookies. He is responible for all of it. Getting the equipment together, placing the cookies and baking them. I have even taught him how to pull the hot pan out of the oven and dish them up for us. So far he has done pretty good. One time he kind of touched the side of the pan, and realizing that it was hot, hasn't done it again since then! So now that he has cookies down, I'll have to figure out what I can have him do next!

Wet Dogs and Snickers

For the ones that arn't familiar with our dogs, let me give you a quick introduction to them. The beagle on the right is Lincoln. We have had him for almost 4 years now. He was a pound puppy that we got. He is about 7 years old now, and has always been really mellow (except for when he gets the chance to play with other animals!) The one on the left is our doxie Teddy. He is about 8 months old now. I got him while I was in Texas this summer. He is supposed to be a mini, but he passed that up about 4 pounds ago!
Well the other day I was sitting downstairs working on my computer when I could hear my dog scratching at the back door. I played it off...then I heard another few scratches and yelled at the dogs as they know that they are not aloud to this. A few seconds later the scratching stared again that had a kind of urgency to it. Kind of like "LET ME IN THE HOUSE NOW!!!!" So I got up and went to the door to find my little doxie Teddy standing there shivering and soaking wet. Somehow or another he had fallen into the pool. While our air temp has warmed up a bit, the water is still only around 50 degrees. I grabbed a towel and dried him off and after a bit cuddling next to me on the couch he seemed to warm up nicely. I swear though that I saw Lincoln sitting off in the cornor with a small smile on his face as if to say "yeah, I did it...whatch'a going to do about it"
In other pet news, we got a cat, well really a kitten in our house this past weekend. I know mom, your shaking your head right now, but it was us or the shelter, and I just don't like the idea of a pet going to the shelter if I can help it. We have named out cat Snickers as it has black, brown and cream colored markings on it and when Leighanna picked it up for us she told us that it reminded her of a Snickers bar...so stuck the name. Not bad since the last cat we had for 4+ years and it never did have a name. Right now we don't see much of the cat because she is scared of the dogs. Lincoln dosen't pay her much attention as he is used to having a cat around. I think he knows that she is too small to mess with right now, so he is just sitting back and waiting for his time to be able to rub his butt on her face. Teddy on the other hand has never seen a cat in his life so he sees her as the ultimate evil that needs to be exterminated from the house. We are slowly trying to get him to realize that she isn't evil, but a cool play toy.

Scott's first heart break

Well it happened yesterday. My son had his heart broken for the first time and there wasn't a thing I could do about it. Not only could I not do anything about it, but at the root of his heart break was his own mommy. So now I need to back track a bit to explain the story from the begining before Scott had to deal with the evil reality of life starring him in the face.
Back around Christmas and his birthday (remember only 6 days apart) he brought in a large sum of money (long story...if you want to know email me). So he bought a few toys with it, the wireless connection for the playstation and Socom III to be able to play with the big boys...he also bought a really cool bike. One of those neat ones with shocks on it, hand breaks and gears. It's funny because for a long time he said he would never have hand breaks, but he figured them out pretty quick after he decieded on this one. Well actually he got one from a different store first, no gears, but it had riding pegs in the back. After a few days with it he changed his mind and deceided that the one from Target was cooler looking and we traded them out.
So on Monday I had to take him in for a last minute dentist appointment since his apppliance had come un-glued on one side. I took him out of school early and then forgot to stop by the school after the appointment to pick up his bike (can you see where this is going?). Tuesday I drove him in since I was working that day. The idea was that he would ride home and then everything would be good. Not quite. We left the school and he dug his key out of his back pack and went to the racks....a few minutes later he was back saying his bike wasn't there. Well I just figured that it was like when you park your car in the mall lot. After so many hours you forget where you put it and just have to wander around for a bit with that look that says I know where I'm going, but your mind is saying where the hell is it? Anyways he looked at me funny and said, "No mommy, I know I parked it there...the lock is still there but the bike isn't". So trying to keep calm about it we went in to ask if maybe the costodians might have cut it since it was there over night. The assured me that there was no way they would have cut the lock. Scott's face just crumbled as he realized that someone had stolen his brand new bike that he just bought like 2 weeks ago! As the tears started to stream from his eyes at his heart break, I felt my heart being ripped out of my chest and being stepped on. I tried to let him know that it would all be ok, especially since he did everything that he was supposed to. After a few minutes we gathered our stuff and he went and got the lock off the bike rack and we came home.
Today he is in better spirts, but didn't want to take his old bike to school just in case. He was planning on walking in, but ran out of time so had to take his scooter (Rod he still has that one you gave him and loves it!) instead. I'm sure after a few times of coming out of the school and finding it still there he wil slowly get over his hesitations, but for now this is still a fresh memory of evil.
