Grab Bag of info
This summer has just flown right by me. At the end of June Scott had baseball tourniments. We let him stay for 2 out of the 3 games over that week as we were also heading out to Ohio to visit for close to 2 weeks. Tim, Michaela, Scott and I loaded up our 3 dogs into the back of the car, hooked a little tailgate thing to the back and took off on our 24 hour drive. We did make the manditory gas/bathroom stops that were a bit extended due to having to walk the dogs at those times. The only quick ones were the ones that we did in the middle of the night when everyone was crashed out, to include the dogs! Our visits home never last long enough, and we get pulled in so many directions and it just never seems that there is enough time to do it all, or see everyone. We do always try to do up some sort of BBQ to get everyone together at once. This trip I went just about everyday to see my grandma as well. Grandma is such a special lady to me and it really sadens me to see her in a nursing home, and worse in the crazy wing. She has dementia and needs watched, but not locked down. Long story there...wouldn't get into it now. Anyways it was nice to be able to see her and take her out to lunch and drives around town. Also took her out to the BBQ where she had a great time talking to people close to her age that can have real conversations. Not to mention all the little ones that we had running around there! I know that I gave her a bit of sunshine for that time...I so wish I could bring her here to take care of. sigh...ok moving on before I get all teared up..
After we came back from Ohio I had to take off a few days later to Utah for a training class that we were doing and there I stayed for just over a week. I even got the chance to float in The Great Salt Lake! After I came home from that trip I worked on the garden a bit and then it was time to take off to CA for a week to do a records update with the entire unit. When I came home from this trip we had Leighanna comeing in the next day for about 2 weeks. It was so nice to see her and have her visit with us. I'm always amazed at what a great person she has been turning into! The same day that Leighanna left, I had to leave again too, back to CA for another training class that had to get done. After about 2 weeks in CA I came back again to a bit of a rest this time, before having to take off in the begining/middlish of September for 2 more weeks of training!
I'm happy to say that I am all done for a few months now. Over the last week I have gotten back into the cycle of life. Doing Fall cleaning, getting ready for Halloween, and just living for a bit in general. This year Scott is going to hold his birthday party the week before Halloween so that we can do it up with that same theme. It should be a lot of fun, but kind of crazy at the same time!!! I'll try to put some pictures together in Smilebox and post them on here.
Remember that I love to know if you've stopped by here. Either by comments made on this page, or by sending me a quick email...lets me know that it is all worth it!

I know that it has been a really long time since I have updated the site. For those that still stop by here now and then looking for updates I'm sorry. I have been traveling a ton this summer and still have one more trip to do this week. I promise that when I get back I will update everyone on our happenings and share lots of pictures with you!

5th grade events
Back in April (or was it the begining of May??) we went with Scott and Michaela's class on a hike through the state park learning about rock formations. Unfortunatly Michaela's group and Scott's were split up with only a quick break around the mid way point to say hello. There were also field days a few weeks later where pretty much the entire school was outside doing different stations that all had a science related idea to it. My station was the bubble station where kids had to figure out which dish soap made the best bubbles.

Kite Flying
First let me say I'm sorry about how some of the pictures are posting with the wording down the sides. For some reason I can't get them to quit doing that...oh well.
April here has been VERY VERY windy. Most days it isn't too bad, but some days it just makes it cold and yucky. Others though are nice and yard work perfect. Scott got a kite this year in his Easter basket and was excited to be able to get out there and give it a try. I was amazed at how long it held his attention. In fact it held it for hours over a couple days. Even after it got stuck up on the roof for hours until the wind changed it kept him waiting. It wasn't until the kite took one nose dive too many and fell apart that he finally stopped flying.

Hiking Castle Rock
This week we went with our neighbors to hike Castle Rock, which is the feature that gives our town its name. Our group consisted of Scott and I, as well as our neighbor and her 2 girls (4 and 7), and then a friend of hers with her 4 year old son. The day was perfect for it.
a bit about rock types. That's my little scientist! While we were hikiing up one of the girls (our 4 year old) slipped and reddened her elbow a bit. She was quite shaken up over the little spill. Well Scott had packed his first aid pack that he had gotten at a boy scout meeting when
we taught them their first aid requirements. So he put a band aid on her elbow to help her feel a bit better.
At the top of the hill we
I took them. There were lots of neat rock formations to see, and the kids all had fun climbing the differnt formations. This is a hike that will be fun to do again, but one that is best done in the cool weather!
